Here are my thoughts while I was reading the books I have finished reading...

Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton (Status: Finished reading on 9/28/19)
Blurb:
One pet crow fights to save humanity from an apocalypse in this uniquely hilarious debut from a genre-bending literary author.
S.T., a domesticated crow, is a bird of simple pleasures: hanging out with his owner Big Jim, trading insults with Seattle's wild crows (those idiots), and enjoying the finest food humankind has to offer: Cheetos ®.
Then Big Jim's eyeball falls out of his head, and S.T. starts to feel like something isn't quite right. His most tried-and-true remedies—from beak-delivered beer to the slobbering affection of Big Jim's loyal but dim-witted dog, Dennis—fail to cure Big Jim's debilitating malady. S.T. is left with no choice but to abandon his old life and venture out into a wild and frightening new world with his trusty steed Dennis, where he discovers that the neighbors are devouring each other and the local wildlife is abuzz with rumors of dangerous new predators roaming Seattle. Humanity's extinction has seemingly arrived, and...
Why this book:
When I read what the book was about I had to read it right away. I hurried up and finished the book I was currently reading, The Devil's Nebula by Eric Brown, just so I could start this one.
9/27/19 - I'm at about 75% into the book. I think S.T. is a hoot, or a caw(pun intended). Very funny lines in this. I like how the author plays it strait and the character is just funny, unlike books like 'The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy', which was just plain silly. I liked THGTTG but I like this kind of humor better. One of the problems I have with 'The Hollow Kingdom' is the overly descriptive prose. The writer is extremely talented in that regard, but give it a rest. I was tempted to take a break from the book at around 50%, but the story started picking up. It seemed like the story wasn't going anywhere until 1/3rd of the way in. I have continued reading despite that because the characters are great and the writing is LOL funny. I have high hopes it's gonna end well. If I didn't have to work this week I could have finished it in 2 days.
9/28/19 - Done! Final thoughts; the climax wasn't near what the plot seemed to be leading up to. It was okay but the ending was better than the climax. It is possible this might not be the last time we hear from S.T..
